ON t'AItl'PNTKK CHEEK.

Returning to tho forks of tho crook and again resuming our journey up Carpenter creek, we come in four miles to London creek, passing on tho way tho Wonderful and several other ledges of high grade galena. About half a mile up London creek, is the Slocan Star, one of the biggest niinos in tho camp. On tho way to the mine wo pass a boulder of float measuring 125 tons, or in othor words, forminga cubomeasuring nearly 10 feet every way, which recently sold on the ground for 1:5,000 in cash. Tho Slocan Star shows an immense wide ledgo with a strong iron cropping. Several thousand dollars' worth of work has been done on it and a depth of over 100 feet attained, showing a continuous vein of oro five feet in width of solid, clean, high grado galena running from 125 ounces in silver upward.

NOBLE FIVE HILL.

About a mile above London croek Noble Five creek comes in and it is in this gulch that the most surprising array of bonanzas is to bo found. About ;j,O0O feet up the mountain side, which mountain, it must be understood, is called Noble Fivo hill, and forms tho divide between Carpenter and Kaslo creeks, is a. series of mines which would bo a wondor in any camp. First on tho west comes the Bonanza King group of live claims on one ledgo, hold at tho prico of §500,000. Theso show a wido lodgo carrying very high-grade galena, chlorido and carbonates. Next on tho eaat u tho Duudmau group, very promising in aspect, Nexfc.

conns tlio R ; co, now being worked by its new owners, Patsy Clark and others of the Occur d'Alenes, and purchased by thorn n month or two ago for §75,000, when only assessment work had been dono on it. It shows a ledgo 11 feet wide, with live or six foot of solid galena, assaying from 140 ounces upwards. Next to it is the Bluebird, owned by Burke and Garrison, both well known in the Cceurd'AJene country. This was pur--chased lust summer for $20,000, and is now valued at livo times that amount. It shows from three to four fcot of solid galena running considerably over 100 ounces. On all of theso claims work will bo continued all winter.

Down tlio gulch from therearo a dozen promising bonanzas, such as tho Mudiaon and Chambers group. A little higher up and acrosss Carpenter Creek on Cody Creek, is tho Freddie Leo Mi no, owned by James F. Warduor and others, purchased early last spring for $15,000, and one of tlio first in the country to be opened up. It has already shipped several hundred tons of oro. running over 125 ounces, and is now opened up so that it can produce easily 20 to 25 tons a day. Tho ledge is over four feet wide, and is opened at intervals through three claims. Right up at the source, almost at Carpenter Crock, where tho granite cuts off the slate on the south, Mr.
